60th Congress of the Liga Medicorum Homeopathica
Internationalis
Berlin, Germany
4th-7th May 2005
Dear colleagues,
I take great pleasure in inviting you to the 60th congress of the Liga
Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis from May 4-7, 2005 in Berlin. In
addition to the extensive scientific program we have the unique
opportunity of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Samuel
Hahnemann. Our congress venue is situated in the heart of old and new
Berlin, close to the famous Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz, the State
Opera and the new government centre which features state-of-the art
architecture. Berlin Europe's greenest metropolis once a symbol of
division and now the scene of new encounters between East and West,
extends a heartfelt welcome to all of you!
Homeopathy worldwide faces new demands and great challenges. We have
crossed the border to a new century, a millennium. Contacts to the WHO
have been established. Yet we are still only a minority with a special
potential to cure suffering patients at a comparably low cost level. We
must be aware of the actual and matter-of-fact as well as the stated or
professed developments and improvements of the officially acknowledged
scientific community. There has been great progress in diagnostics,
surgery and also in some fields of medical treatment, yet there is the
uncertain future and danger of gene technology, the unsolved questions
of real cures, the clash between the treatment of the mind and the body
and the collapse of public health care systems in many countries around
the world due to the horrendous costs of the western medical system
which inevitably lead to financial disasters. In my opinion we have
great values and much potential to offer. But our posit-ion should
always be one of an open dialogue with other medical systems and
directions. Thus I see our congress in the capital of my country as a
demonstration of our scientific and healing potential as well as a rare
opportunity to demonstrate our efforts to the politicians, the press and
the public. My team and I will make every effort to be special and
attentive hosts to make your stay a wonderful and unforgettable one. We
are planning some major changes for this congress: there will be fewer
and longer lectures. We will provide substantial time for discussions
and I am looking forward very much to this chance for all of us to
exchange in depth and amongst so many different colleagues many personal
ideas, comments, experiences and criticisms.Up till now I have been able
to engage over 40 experienced colleagues from many countries. They will
honour us by holding a lecture on the unique occasion of Hahnemann's
birthday. We will be able to listen to some of the world's finest and
most well-known homeopaths. I also would like to see this event as a
sign of a necessary and important change of generations among our
esteemed lecturers. That's why I have also invited some remarkable or
even outstanding younger exponents from homeopathically lesser known
countries to give them a chance and to let them enrich us with their
special knowledge. There will be excursions to Köthen, where Hahnemann
lived and practiced from 1821 until 1835. It is here that the
"Chronic Diseases” were written in 1828. Visiting Meissen we will see
his native town and follow the traces of other great homeopaths such as
Constantin Hering and Adolph zur Lippe. On behalf of all colleagues here
in Germany I would like to express once again my pleasure to welcome you
all in Berlin to celebrate Samuel Hahnemann's 250th birthday with us!
Dr. Wolfgang Springer,
President of the Congress
